Help Easter Seals Create Solutions and Change Lives

Creating solutions and changing lives is what we do at Easter Seals. Join us and you, too, can make a difference and help people with disabilities achieve their goals. Volunteer your time to share your talents, whether performing office work, volunteering at events and camps, or another way you can help.

Need more convincing? In the words of Edgar "Daddy" Allen, founder of Easter Seals, "We have but one life. We get nothing out of that life except by putting something into it. To relieve suffering, to help the unfortunate, to do kind acts and deeds is, after all, the one sure way to secure happiness or to achieve real success. Your life and mine shall be valued not by what we take...but by what we give."

Who can volunteer?
Anyone-students to seniors (must be 13 years of age)-can volunteer.  All volunteers must complete an application with references, orientation and training session.

Will I work with children?
Volunteers work with people of all ages-from toddlers through young adults-and, depending on the activity, volunteer activities can be with groups or individuals.  However, if you prefer to give your time "behind the scene" activities, special events or office work may be just the right match for you.

How will volunteering help me?
You will learn new skills and meet new people as you fulfill your volunteer role in a rewarding, challenging and fun environment.  Many employers look favorably on youth volunteer service when seeking new employees.

What type of schedule would I have?
One of the advantages of volunteering at Easter Seals is the flexability of scheduling.  Because we offer activities six days a week, hours are avaliable during weekdays, early evenings and on weekends, too.

Whatever your talent or interest, we have a place for you!  "Hands on" opportunities to work with young children in activities that promote learning and development include:
-Classroom assistance (Reading books, playing games)
-Accompanying children on field trips
-Sports and Recreation Camps

Clerical and other opportunities involve: special events, holiday parties, and assistance with mailings.
