The Third Annual Women's Initiative
in support of Easter Seals Connecticut's Programs & Services

 WI

The purpose of the Women’s Initiative luncheon is to bring together women who enjoy helping those in need, and vigorously engage in philanthropic activity.  This year’s event gathered women eager to support the profound efforts of Easter Seals Connecticut that change lives of children and adults with disabilities through various programs and services.

This year Cathy Poulin, Spokesperson for Bob’s Discount Furniture, was honored with the 2009 Easter Seals Women in Philanthropy Award for the work she does as part of the Outreach Program for Bob’s Discount Furniture as well as her philanthropic support and her active role to better the lives of people in need on a personal level.

Nancy Wyman, the 2008 award recipient of Easter Seals Women in Philanthropy Award, presented Poulin with the distinguished award. Wyman, elected for the State of Connecticut Comptroller Office in 1994 is responsible for paying the state’s bills, keeping its books together and representing the taxpayers in fiscal matters. Besides taking care of public finances she is involved in a number of philanthropic efforts in addition to her interest in Easter Seals. She is a tireless advocate for health issues affecting women and children.

The event was a huge success thanks to all who attended as well as the many sponsors including Bob’s Discount Furniture, Willis HRH, TD Banknorth, Sara’s Superb Herbs at Pride’s Corner Farms, and Cabot Creamery.
